Saft, the worlds leading designer and manufacturer of high-tech industrial batteries have opened an automated lithium-ion battery factory in Jacksonville, Florida.
The plant which cost $200million is Saft's 16th facility worldwide and will meet growing customer demand for high performance and competitive energy storage solutions. As the plant expands, it will be providing approximately 300 jobs, helping to boost the local economy.
Saft was presented with incentives from the state of Florida and city of Jacksonville to build the plant, and was further helped with funding by the Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act who provided a $95.9million federal grant.
