Intertek has announced the opening of its European Competence Centre for e-mobility in Kaufbeuren, Bavaria, Germany...

The facility is Intertek’s third e-mobility center worldwide, joining the state-of-the-art test laboratories in Shanghai, China and Detroit, USA.

Intertek is a leading provider of quality and safety solutions for a broad range of industries. The new €3.3 million European Intertek Competence Centre for e-mobility will cater to the testing and certification needs of automotive companies across Europe, including testing solutions for products such as battery cells, modules and packs up to 800kg, battery management systems, charging stations and smart grids, plugs and plug connectors, and components for electric vehicles.

Gregg Tiemann, chief executive of the Intertek Commercial and Electrical division, made the following statement: “With today’s official opening of the Competence Centre in Kaufbeuren, we have now completed our global network of laboratories for electromobility. All of our laboratories work in close collaboration to ensure that the charging systems and electric vehicle components are efficiently moved through the product safety and certification process.”

He continued, “Dynamic markets demand better global networking and extremely short response times. We deliver that to our customers and now we do it for our entire portfolio of e-mobility.”
