Volvo Car Corporation and Siemens are joining together in order to advance the technical development of electric cars. The partnership gives Siemens the chance to extend its industrial leadership in electric drive technology into the automotive market, whilst Volvo Car Corporation will be able to benefit from the proven and efficient technology of Siemens to bring their electric cars up to a much higher standard.
This collaboration will focus on the development of electric drive technology, power electronics, charging technology along with the integration of these systems into the Volvo C30 Electric vehicles.
Volvo Car Corporation starts small-scale production of the Volvo C30 Electric this year, and next year the company will start selling the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid.
